Tinubu Lauds Governor Abiodun’s Impact on Ogun’s Development at 65th Birthday Thanksgiving

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his significant role in transforming Ogun State’s infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. He noted major strides in road construction, housing, and public services, which have collectively boosted the state’s economy.

The President’s remarks were delivered by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, to celebrate Abiodun’s 65th birthday and his sixth year in office.

"Over the past six years, your leadership has turned Ogun State into a model of progress with remarkable achievements in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, social welfare, agriculture, and food security," Tinubu stated.

He further praised the governor’s transparent and inclusive approach to governance, which has promoted innovation, stability, and sustainable development. "Ogun State now stands out as a key destination for investment, with a steadily growing Internally Generated Revenue," he added.

"Your unwavering dedication to public service and nation-building is a source of strength in our shared pursuit of renewal and prosperity," Tinubu concluded.

Also speaking at the event, Senator Akpabio applauded Governor Abiodun’s ability to turn his vision into tangible progress.

"I was a bit nervous when I landed at the airport today because I used to think I would go down in history as Nigeria’s best-ever governor," Akpabio said jokingly. "But what I’ve seen here today shows that some people are giving me a run for my money. I thought I was an uncommon governor, but now I’ve seen an uncommon state."

He also thanked the governor for his strong support of President Tinubu and for rallying southern governors behind the administration.

In his address, Governor Abiodun described the day as a moment of reflection and gratitude. “Marking my 65th birthday, six years of service, and the conclusion of the National Sports Festival all at once is a reminder of God’s grace. This journey has been one of growth, challenges, victories, and divine guidance,” he said.
